Amateur Blog All Saints Day Preview. Go Johnny Go

Posted by jim g on Wednesday, October 31, 2012,
Thursday is the calm before the storm of Breeders' Cup, the start of the Jebel Ali/Meydan season, and the weekly fun of the fair at Dundalk, among others.
Wednesday's reverse forecast was never in much doubt for the blog and landed comfortably, with Clonbanan Lad making all, chased throughout by Operating. The latter stayed on nicely after the last and will be sharper for the run. Both look worth following. The Nap, Eastern Dragon, at Kempton,  halved in price from when I put it up at 12/1 e/w...

Operation Winner. Amateur preview 31/10.

Posted by jim g on Tuesday, October 30, 2012,
Following a very modest Tuesday of racing, the blog continues its selective strategy with two bets on Wednesday. Tuesday's nap selection for the competition went down by a neck, need a decent winner on Wednesday after Dale 'The Gibbo' Gibson extended his lead on the monthly table with a 7/2 winner. Through (slightly) gritted teeth, nice work Dale, but I'm not quite done with! :)

WEDNESDAY:

A really intriguing maiden hurdle at Punchestown and I'll be having a reverse forecast on two potentially ...

Amateur preview 30/10. Tactical Voting....

Posted by jim g on Monday, October 29, 2012,
Although Monday wasn't the greatest day in the history of the blog, it ended up serving a purpose! Go Native was massively impressive in winning the flat race at Galway and must go to the Morgiana hurdle with a favourite's chance next month, while managed to lay Cara's Request around evens, having backed it at 14/1.
However the highlight of the day was nailing the Naas maiden hurdle, with Jezki getting up late to catch the well backed Gigginstown acquisition, Ally Cascade, the pair over 20 len...

Amateur preview 29/10. To Go Native, or...?

Posted by jim g on Sunday, October 28, 2012,
A mixed weekend with several winners from the blog positives on Saturday, however Sunday's Nap Dalkala didn't get the trip, having looked the winner when cruising up two out.

MONDAY:

A good maiden hurdle opens the Naas card, and looks to lie between JEZKI, fit from a recent spin on the flat, and impressive bumper winner Ally Cascade (12.55 Naas). Jezki has the greater racecourse experience after two bumper wins and a decent 8th in the Champion bumper at Cheltenham. However Ally Cascade could no...

Amateur Preview 27/28-10. Dalkala to conquer

Posted by jim g on Friday, October 26, 2012,
The blog ended a very good Friday with three winners and two seconds from the seven selections, and happily the Nap i offered up for the competition was, in the end, Atmpspheric High, which won well. However another was a huge eyecatcher in that race for next time, and I suspect will have delivered quite a speed figure.... ;)

Saturday's horses to watch in the market had a very good day on the blog with three winners and a pair of seconds, however Skilful was disappointing. Cheers for Thea let ...

Amateur preview 26th. Bombay won't Duck Issue!

Posted by jim g on Thursday, October 25, 2012,
Due to a few blog issues, I've popped over to this location for now, please click on my twitter post links for this. Not sure if it is permanent or temporary, and apologies for any issues it might cause readers.

Thursday's Nap drifted, (as did everything else in the race pretty much) only in the face of a wall of money for the ultimate winner, Hold Court. In the event travelled well but appeared to blow up or run out of stamina approaching the last. After two years off before its last run, ...
