Amateur preview Meydan 28/2. Irish eyes...

Posted by jim g on Tuesday, February 26, 2013,
Hopefully last week was an exciting and profitable one for blog followers, with Nap, Con Artist, romping away with his race in great style, and Await the Dawn also scoring impressively. Sajjhaa and Mushreq both received positive mentions while Dux Scholar also given a write-up, bolted up in a fast run finale.

Igugu was the big disappointment of the day, but @trakusracing stats indicate, at least to me, she is worth another chance, having set some almost insane fractions early to mid-race. She ...

Amateur preview Meydan; Artist can Draw

Posted by jim g on Tuesday, February 19, 2013,
After two great weeks when the blog put up 6 out of 12 winners, the last fortnight has been a different story, with just Soft Falling Rain obliging last week. It will be very interesting to see whether the horse is asked to tackle his elders such as the impressive winner Moonwalk In Paris next time.

I do think this week's card is more 'tractable' in betting terms, but time will tell! As always this is written when there is no market formed. Hopefully Wednesday evening will see first offerings ...

Amateur preview. Rolls up for Valentine's

Posted by jim g on Tuesday, February 12, 2013,
Meydan happily for followers has two meetings this week, on Thursday and Saturday. Thursday's card looks full of quality and finding winners as ever a tricky task. After two great weeks for the blog, last Thursday saw a series of placed horses and was ultimately disappointing.

As always, please note this is written before any market is available.

The UAE 2,000 Guineas is expected to go to SOFT FALLING RAIN (Meydan 3.55). Won the trial in very good front running style. The clock for that race (7...

Opinion Column. Kitty Reaches Premature Ceiling

Posted by jim g on Saturday, February 9, 2013,
The news that Ceiling Kitty, two dates after her 'personal' third birthday (4th February foal), is to be retired to stud has caused barely a flutter it seems in the racing community. I find that disappointingly predictable as once again the sport apathetically accepts it and moves on, without any attempt to examine the serious questions it raises for the game.

She was a fine two year old. By Red Clubs out of a speedy US Tale of the Cat family, she won three times off the reel in May and June, ...

Meydan amateur preview 7/2. Backing Back

Posted by jim g on Tuesday, February 5, 2013,
The last two Meydan Carnival previews have yielded the blog a more than pleasing (I think, anyway!) 6 winners from the 12 races.
This week's card unfortunately doesn't promise similar returns, and I will only be having serious bets in a couple of the races this time round, however they are a couple of intriguing and decent propositions i think....

No prices at the time of typing, so as ever, suggestions are initially e/w depending on prices.

The Nap vote goes to I'M BACK (Meydan 3.50 NAP). This...
