Golf 28 Sept. By Jingo...

Posted by jim g on Monday, September 28, 2015,
A second disappointing week on the spin for the first time since May, I guess you could say I was 'due'. Doubly disappointing having recently restarted the blog.

Entirely understandable if you aren't still reading, but nothing ventured, and we have one of the stats bets of the season this week.
Penned on Monday before bookmakers arrive on the scene

Five events of interest, two wins and a second in his last five events in at least this grade or better (4th here in 2013) means that Jean Hugo is of...

Golf 21 Sept

Posted by jim g on Tuesday, September 22, 2015,
Very brief entry as on holiday. Disappointment last week with a poor showing, capped by the sole added twitter bet of Kaymer win only at 6s going down in a play off.

Kirk Triplett about 28s is the e/w headline selection of the week in the Seniors event at Pebble Beach, a venue he has multiple wins at. Max Kieffer is the pick at 15/8 top 20 as cover bet in Europe, where 66/1 for in form David Horsey, a win and a third in his last four events,  gets a small e/w interest. My only plays in the Tou...

Golf Selections 14th September

Posted by jim g on Monday, September 14, 2015,
A quick if slightly sore look back!

Last week promised much by Friday night, but ultimately delivered little. Having mentioned in the blog that I  liked the chances of Jean Hugo, I was put off by the price and passed. Wrong decision! Hugo went on to land the 7/1.

Early disappointment came in the shape of Ha Na Jang, who for the first time I can remember this year, missed the cut. But by Friday night, Kjeldsen was in the lead in Holland and Lahiri sitting in second place in the web.com event. Kj...

Golf Selections 7th September

Posted by jim g on Tuesday, September 8, 2015,
Firstly a quick recap on last week...

For someone of Stenson's class and experience you really don't expect a bottle job, but I'm afraid that's exactly what this was. Three pars to finish wins the tournament and even after his 'little mishap' on 16;
3 to get down from the heart of the final fairway would have got a play off.

To rub in salt, he missed from 18 inches on Saturday, and according also to shot-tracker 2feet 5 inches on friday Sad

Happily Horsey made a place as well in Russia so with tha...

Golf Selections

My first week of betting 'seriously' on golf, here are my thoughts and suggestions.
First a quick review, last week was definitely one that got away. For someone of Stenson's class and experience you really don't expect a bottle job, but I'm afraid that's exactly what this was. Three pars to finish wins trhe tournament and even after his 'little mishap' on 16, then 3 to get down from the heart of the final fairway would have got a play off.

Golf Selections, Tackling the Bookies

Posted by jim g on Sunday, September 6, 2015,
It's Monday lunchtime and straight to the business end of the selection process. Prices are slowly starting to appear for this week's golf events. Skybet have priced the South African event and while I like Jean Hugo's chances as in the previous entry, i don't care for the price, 7/1. Pass!

Next up it's the KLM event, one of the week's better offerings, and no surprise that the class act, Martin Kaymer, heads the betting. 12th in the PGA and has been returning to form gradually after a slow st...

The Selection process 5-6/9/2015. And Stuff... :)

Posted by jim g on Saturday, September 5, 2015,
Thought it might be mildly amusing to blog as I go through the selection process for my first week betting 'seriously' on golf (as per my post below).

It's Saturday morning and am greeted not just by the sight of rain on opening the curtains, but slate, leaden skies. Summer, bah! But this does have an upside, especially this morning. No 'enforced' shopping trip, and after a swift breakfast, lo and behold the internet is free, and for the morning.
Scenes! This means I can get a head's start on s...

Giving it a Go. Golf Betting

Posted by jim g on Wednesday, September 2, 2015,
After much pre-planning, careful financing for other contingencies, and experimentation, I've decided to put aside a four figure 'Bank' for golf betting.

Having had a reasonably successful golf betting season, skimming off a few profits I've been lucky enough to win, I've decided to have a proper go at betting seriously. I'd call it 'semi-pro', for want of a better phrase, and if at any stage the pot's gone, then the experiment will be over.

Am choosing not to divulge numbers, and realise that ...
